Mozart and more
Written for the June Year 3 topic of
"Music"
I give daily thanks for Mozart.
The music came from God, he said.
He was no more than a conduit
To express the voice of God,
Which may well be, I suppose.
It all came fully formed,
No wrestling for him.
A symphony, concerto, divertimento, a song,
Aria, cadenza, recitative, ding-dong.
Yawn, it is all so easy.
Figaro, Cosi fan tutti,
Churn it all out as fast as I can,
Another quid in the bank – oops costs overran.
No problem there,
I can already hear the refrain,
Another idea in train.
And yet. This is so wonderful!
Magnificent as my beloved Mozart it,
He is not the only one!
My life has been enriched
By all the marvellous music I have heard.
Thank God for Mozart
And all the other workaday,
Commonplace, everyday genii
Who give pleasure and elation,
But most of all, give thanks
For writing - and musical notation!
