With smooth, assuréd stroke and loving care
The expert painter starts his sweep
‘Cross canvas blank, and brings to life
With deft movement and careful tiny twitch
The vibrant, glowing, growing scene.

The bright, clear vision seen within his head –
From his mind’s eye to nearly living form –
The hitherto bland canvas
Blooms and grows and lives.

But lesser men with talent more diffused
Are forced to try to paint their thoughts into awkward, sullen words.
