I paint you Written for the November Year 4 topic of "Paint"

It is difficult to see past someone when they are all that you can see,
The mind's eye won't let them drop even though they are one pin prick
in the sea.

I paint a picture of your outline which sits behind my eyes
Even though all I want to do is sit down beneath new skies.

But I sit and paint your dark skin dark eyes and dark hair;
A life so removed from my own it's unfair.

I struggle to see where I'm supposed to be
I guess that no one knows to a certain degree.
