Postcard Poem
Written for the August Year 2 topic of "Postcards"
Sunset falls on a Croatian island
Illuminating a small town.
The curved bay that holds small
Boats reflects the red-pink glow
Resonating through red-brick roofs.
The red-stained clouds hover sheepishly
- but shouldn’t be there.
Flipped over, the kiss of a thousand
Other cards marks the inked scribbling.
Quaint & quirky humour – a light
Hearted exchange that masks true feelings.
An image is clung to, a bit like
An old photograph.
This small token eases other stresses,
It has passed through so many other
Hands it is hard to distinguish
Who’s who but it is just about managed.
I reach into the small town and
Pull her out.
